The informative bit; Especially selected for all of you Sauvignon Blanc drinkers out there. Pouilly Fumé is the little sister of Sancerre, being located on the opposite bank of the Loire river. The ‘fumé’ is reference to its smokey or ‘gunflinty’ character that it gains from the red clay that it’s grown upon. 2012 was a good year for Sauvignon in the Loire.

Tasting notes; dry, crisp acidity with lemony notes, typical mineral flintiness. Long in flavour, medium in body.

Drinking hints and tips: More suited to the summer months for many but for you die-hard Sauvignon fans, drink cold with anything fried in batter e.g. fish and chips, sweet and sour prawn balls, crispy squid. As with most wine, we found this improved on the second pour, so open, taste, then if you can bare it, leave for a few minutes to give the flavour a chance to open up.
